Deliv raises the same day delivery stakes with new acquisition

The race to corner the retail same day delivery market continues to gather pace with last mile delivery company Deliv announcing this week that they have purchased New York City's Zipments - the leading provider of same day services in that city.

This news should not come as a great surprise, as we've noted here on the same day delivery blog Deliv are now the chosen partner for a number of chain retailers' ambitious plans to grow market share for same day services. Improving their own capabilities and resources in New York City is a natural objective for Deliv who are pressed into expanding rapidly on the back of a series of new partnership alliances throughout 2015.

If managed effectively New York City is potentially the largest US market for retail same day delivery services due in no small part to the urban density that makes the distances very appealing for an on-demand delivery specialist.

The acquisition of Zipments also enables Deliv to instantly grow their overall client list significantly in addition to strengthening their logistics capacity in the city. Per a press release this week "Zipments services marquis brands such as DVF, Ted Baker, and Trina Turk, on-demand companies such as Casper, Handy, and Plated, local merchants such as B&H, Murray’s Cheese and Epicerie Boulud, as well as large corporate clients who need to send packages across town"

It's an interesting and seemingly natural development for San Francisco-based Deliv who have built their roster of same day delivery partnerships up during the last year or so to include Best Buy, Kohl’s, Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, West Elm, and Williams-Sonoma. Financial details of the acquisition were not released at this time.
