Welcome back to the Same Day Delivery blog as we begin another week. There have been so many stories related to the industry in recent weeks that we're going to begin a series of posts that offer a quick summary of some of the developments each month or so that you can keep current with even more of the same day activity. In each story below you can click the blue link for the full article to learn more.

same-day-delivery-new-york-1Amazon have again modified their Amazon Prime Now services this time to cover all of Manhattan which as the most densely populated area of any US city seems a logical fit. Initally limited to certain zip codes they've been adding more each month and now cover same day delivery services for the entire island in addition to parts of Brooklyn. Prime Now charges nothing (beyond membership fees) for two-hour delivery and $7.99 for one-hour delivery. Amazon did not outline a minimum order value for either window. Read more at internetretailer.com.

According to TechCrunch on demand delivery provider Postmates have received over $30 million in funding from Spark Capital. While drone delivery services seem unlikely to receive FAA approval in the US it shouldn't be a surprise to learn that in Dubai the drone delivery market is poised to take off (apologies) over the next few years. A very interesting article about what is taking place over in the UAE. is worth a read at the national.ae

Same Day Delivery industry shorts:

Sidecar join the same day delivery battle with the addition of food orders to vehicles that are transporting people, we're not even sure how to feel about that. Brendan Witcher's blog takes a look at the pros and cons of some Same Day Delivery strategies and why the pricing point and third party services are huge considerations. Valentine's Day is a peak time for 1-800-Flowers but a furious Twitter backlash campaign shows just how important quality and customer satisfaction are in the same day delivery field.

We'll be back later in the week for more stories about the industry and in the meantime we welcome your comments and suggestions.
